About me
I’m Graham Saunders, an experienced versatile web developer and graphic designer based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.
Originally from Chippenham, I began my career as an apprentice and worked my way up through several advertising agencies in the Swindon area – from trainee paste-up artist to fully fledged graphic designer and visualiser.
This was the pre-Mac era, when everything was crafted by hand and attention to detail mattered enormously. “Do it right or do it again!” was the cry of the studio manager – where “do it again” could mean a very late night in the studio. That early grounding has shaped me ever since: thorough, efficient and technically precise.
In the late 90s I moved to Bath and became Creative Director of a design agency working across brand, advertising and packaging design, before eventually going solo. I’ve been working under the banner of GAS Design since 1998.
How I work
“Clarity at the beginning gives clarity in the result” has been my guiding principle from the start. I believe exceptional creative work comes from strong relationships, so I invest in open, honest dialogue with every client. When we understand each other well, the brief becomes clearer – and clarity helps creativity flow.
I enjoy working as an external part of a comms or marketing team. I’m a clear communicator, responsive, adaptable, and happy to support fast-turnaround jobs when I can. I’m equally comfortable managing complex, long-term projects from concept to completion.
Beyond the studio
When I’m not creating digital and visual work, I make music and sing. I’m a member of the Bath Community Gospel Choir and The Old Town Reclamation String Band (AKA Bath Skiffle Sessions). Both are open community projects, so if you’re in the Bath area come and join in!
